Lucho has arrived

The forward from Italy’s Genoa came to Boca on account of Martin Palermo’s drawn-out injury. This Thursday the newcomer carried out his first training at the Casa Amarilla site.

"I hope I can do things well so that Martín’s absence will not be felt” the newcomer told the newsmen in a press conference.

His debut could hardly have been better. Lucho scored one of the goals of the substitute team by connecting a cross sent in by Lucas Castromán. The regular players beat their “rivals” by 3-2 in the practice session.

Besides, the blond forward commented “The group gave me a very warm welcome, and I already know some of the players, like Battaglia, Riquelme and Gracián.

The former player of Rosario Central and River had arrived in Argentina on Wednesday, went through his medical exam and last night signed his contract which specifies a loan for one season.

Physically he seems to be in good shape and he had no trouble in keeping up the pace of his teammates during the practice.

Moreover, Figueroa asserted “I hope to adapt quickly to Boca’s world and retribute with goals the confidence in me of the people who hired me”. He has already started paying, although only in a training session.

The regular team lined up with Ayala, Ibarra, Roncaglia, Paletta, Calvo, Neri Cardozo, Battaglia, Nicolás Gaitán, Gracián, Palacio and Noir. García and Caranta did not take part in the morning practice.-
